An old favourite

P1000926

With all the new fancy lip balms coming out that promise to work wonders for your lips, it’s easy to forget the good old gems. For me, Vaseline is one of those. As you can see from the picture mine is very battered, but that’s just the well-loved look, right?

I’d been obsessed with my Carmex lip balm for quite some time, but then around January my lips started getting really dry, and unfortunately Carmex wasn’t cutting it. In fact, no matter what I tried, between exfoliating and every lip balm under the sun, nothing would work. Then I stumbled across my old tub of Vaseline. After a few days of applying it whenever I needed to, both my dry lips and the flaky skin around them had cleared up! A complete wonder.

So I guess the message of this post is that, no matter what new and exciting flashy products are on the market, sometimes a good old reliable product is the best way forward! And maybe do look out for that tub of Vaseline that’s lying around the house, because for me it really was a life saver.

Product Review – Laura Mercier Lip Glacé

LM Recently I received a set of the Laura Mercier Lip Glacés from my very generous friend. The set comes with five shades: Angelic: A lovely pale pink that is unfortunately a little light for my oliver-toned skin, but would look gorgeous on someone with a lighter skin tone. Bare Pink: A beautiful nude that is easy to just put on and wear out anywhere. It’s definitely one that I would pair with bolder cheeks or eyes. Pink Pop: Quite a bright pink, this shade definitely pops in your face! It’s a pretty girly pink that would be perfect for any occasion. Tulip: More of an everyday version than Pink Pop and Wildflower, this pink shade has more purple undertones. It’s probably my favourite, as it’s a mixture between a ‘My Lips But Better’ colour and a brighter pink. Wildflower: Definitely the boldest and brightest shade in the set, this colour is bright and fun. It’s a lovely pretty hot pink colour that I’d wear in the evening if I wanted to wear a bolder lip.

From Left to Right: Angelic, Bare Pink, Pink Pop, Tulip, Wildflower

These lip glosses have a gorgeous consistency and apply really smoothly to the lips. The pigmentation is excellent and the lasting power is quite good, especially for Wildflower; it took quite a long time to get the swatch off! I’d definitely recommend these lip glosses to anyone! Although the miniature set I got was limited edition, I would still advise purchasing the shade you most like, as I think they’re definitely worth the money.

Nails Inc – The Holiday Edit Collection

From Left to right: Kensington High Street, Colville Mews, Camden Road

For Christmas this year I received this gorgeous nail polish set from my friend. In the set you get three colours; Kensington High Street, Colville Mews, and Camden Road. Kensington High Street is a lovely deep red colour, Colville Mews is what I personally think of as the ‘perfect nude’, and Camden Road is a glittery  top coat, which is perfect for the party season in my opinion. They are miniature versions of the original Nails Inc nail polishes, and each pot contains 4.5ml of product.

Colville Mews

Kensington High Street and Colville Mews are part of the gel effect line, and as you can see by the image above, they apply in a nice opaque way. I did apply two coats, and the first came out with a lot of streaks, but by the second coat the colour and application looked much more professional.

Overall, I would say that this is a lovely little set from Nails Inc, and is currently on offer at Feel Unique for £10.50
