It may just be me, but having to go back to work/school is always something that I dread after the long Christmas holiday. Usually I need something to keep me going through school, and knowing that I will be able to come home and curl up in my nice, warm bed with a good TV show definitely helps. Therefore I’ve compiled a list of some TV shows that I enjoyed watching throughout 2014 and some are airing again soon!
The Musketeers – A show described by the BBC itself as “a thrilling world of action, adventure and romance inspired by Dumas’ legendary characters.” It follows four members of the King’s Musketeers, Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and D’Artagnan, as they obey the orders of the King of France and hunt down those that are enemies to the crown. It’s a good mix of action, drama, and humour. Season 2 aired 2nd Jan, BBC
Broadchurch – A gripping murder mystery that follows the murder of 11 year old Daniel Latimer and the impact of grief, mutual suspicion, and media attention on the small town of Broadchurch. It can be quite heavy on the emotions at some points, but is a good all-round murder mystery without too much gory violence. Season 2 aired 5th Jan, ITV
Suits – Set in a fictional law firm, this court-room drama explores the lives of Mike Ross, a law-school drop-out with an excellent memory, and arrogant senior partner Harvey Specter. The show follows the difficulty the characters face in keeping Mike’s lack of law-school education a secret, as well as touching on morals and different hurdles the characters have to face as lawyers. Season 4 Part 2 airs 28th January, USA network
How To Get Away With Murder – An American serial legal drama series that focusses on five law students and a murder that was committed at the beginning of the story. It follows two plots – the reaction the characters have to the murder and their journey to the ultimate deed, flicking back and forth between the past and the present. Despite this, it never gets confusing and keeps the audience gripping the edge of their seats throughout each episode. Season 2 airs 29th January, ABC
Pretty Little Liars – A show that I’ve been watching on and off for a few years now, Pretty Little Liars follows a group of four best friends that try and uncover the murderer of their best friend, Alison. Plagued by anonymous hate messages by the mysterious “A”, the friends set out to unmask their anonymous tormentor without jeopardising the safety of each other and those around them. Season 5 aired January 6th, ABC Family
So that this post doesn’t get too lengthy, some others that I’ve enjoyed watching are Friends, Teen Wolf, and Once Upon a Time, although none of these are airing a new season until later in the year (or at all, in Friends’ case). I hope that you might’ve found this post helpful, and maybe you’ll give one or two of these shows a try!
